Safeguarding Adults for Dental Practices

It is essential that dental practices promote environments in which abuse of any kind is not tolerated. Management along with those employees delivering services to patients need to be aware of their key responsibilites in these areas and how their actions can protect both the patient and the practice.

This interactive, practical training session has been designed to directly address three key Care Quality Commission (CQC) Standards:

• Standard 1.0: You can expect to be respected, involved and told what’s happening at every stage
• Standard 2.5: Staff respect your cultural background, sex, age, sexuality, religion or belief, and your disability
• Standard 3.1: You will be protected from abuse or the risk of abuse.

This session will show you how to:

• Apply the principles of the Mental Capacity Act when serving clients who may have limited mental capacity
• Work in a way which promotes diversity and create environments in which clients are respected for their personal beliefs and choices
• Identify the different types of abuse and their indicators
• Minimise the factors which can make abuse more likely
• Manage disclosures of abusive practices
• Record allegations or observations of abusive practices appropriately.
